Measurement Step

BAT Testing

BAT Testing is the BATWatch term for the plasma blood test used to measure Beta-Amyloid (Aβ) and Tau (T), the two protein markers at the center of the BAT framework.

In BATwiki, BAT Testing refers to the direct plasma biomarker measurement step. It is the part of the BAT model used to quantify Beta-Amyloid and Tau in blood through laboratory analysis.

In simple terms: BAT Testing is the direct plasma test for Beta-Amyloid and Tau. It can be used as a standalone test, or combined with BATCheck Snapshot as part of BATCheck Complete.

What BAT Testing Measures

The live BAT materials describe BAT Testing as a structured plasma biomarker protocol focused on two core measurements:

  • the Aβ42/40 ratio as the main Beta-Amyloid balance measure
  • phosphorylated Tau, usually pTau181 or pTau217, as the main Tau measure

Together, these markers help show whether the brain's protein-clearance pattern looks steady, mildly drifting, or in need of closer follow-up.

Why BAT Testing Matters

BAT Testing is used to look at biological brain performance more directly through Beta-Amyloid and Tau measurement. In BATwiki terms, that means following the plasma biomarker pattern itself instead of relying only on later functional changes.

The goal here is measurement and trend tracking, not diagnosis. Repeating BAT Testing over time can help clinicians and individuals follow whether the same biological pattern appears stable, shifts gradually, or needs another check-in later on.

How BAT Testing Fits In

BAT Testing can be used as a standalone plasma measurement step for Beta-Amyloid and Tau. It does not depend on BATCheck to exist as a test.

BATCheck is the broader check-in model. BATCheck Snapshot is the upstream check-in layer, and when Snapshot is combined with BAT Testing, that fuller model is called BATCheck Complete.

BATScore is the summary score built from the strongest available signal in that testing data.

What Happens After the Test

After the plasma sample is analyzed, the findings are reviewed in context and placed into a larger trend. That may mean routine follow-up, comparison against a baseline, or use within a BATCheck Complete report and BATScore summary.

The larger value comes from repeated follow-up over time. One BAT Test is still only one moment in time.
